Google Maps Go

Maps for lighter phones and weaker connections

Google Maps Go is a lighter version of Google Maps for finding places, planning routes, checking traffic, and getting around by car, walking, bicycle, taxi, ferry, bus, train, or metro. It suits people using phones with limited memory, as well as travellers who often rely on slower or less reliable mobile networks. The app works as a Progressive Web App and requires Chrome.

Directions and public transport

Search for an address or place, then compare available ways to reach it. Google Maps Go provides route previews and turn-by-turn directions, along with traffic conditions that can help you choose a quicker journey. In supported cities, you can view public transport information and schedules for buses, trains, and metro services. Coverage extends across more than 20,000 cities, though the detail available will vary by location.

Local places and useful details

The app also works as a local search tool. Look up restaurants, shops, businesses, attractions, and other nearby locations to see addresses, phone numbers, customer reviews, and photos where available. Places you visit often or want to remember can be saved for easier access later. Maps and place information are available across more than 200 countries and territories, with support for over 70 languages.
