Google

Search, answers, and everyday tools

Google is the Android app for finding information through typed, spoken, visual, and on-screen searches. It suits anyone who wants one place to look up facts, websites, nearby places, images, news, sports results, and other quick answers. Voice search can help when typing is inconvenient, while Google Lens lets you search with the camera by recognising objects, reading text, translating signs, or working through some visual questions.

Useful ways to search

The app supports more than a traditional search box. You can use a humming or whistled melody to help identify a song, and compatible Android devices may offer Circle to Search for looking up content shown inside another app. Search results can also include AI-generated summaries and follow-up questions, giving you a way to explore a topic without starting each query from scratch.

A personalised information feed

Beyond direct searches, Google includes Discover, a feed shaped by your interests and activity. It can surface articles, updates, sports information, and other topics without requiring a specific query. This makes the app useful both when you know exactly what you need and when you want a quick view of subjects you regularly follow. The amount and type of content shown will vary with your settings and device.

Scale and practical details

Google is listed in the Tools category and is developed by Google LLC. Its listing shows a 4.07 rating from more than 28.9 million reviews, with 10 billion-plus installs. Those figures reflect its broad role across Android phones, from occasional lookups to a daily entry point for web search and connected information.
